Calming Those Frayed Wedding Plan Nerves
Is planning that fairy tale wedding beginning to stress you out? No matter how overwhelmed you are probably beginning to feel by now, being a bundle of nerves won’t get things organized for one of the biggest days in your life.
Wedding consultants recommend that both the bride and groom share in the responsibilities. After all, it’s his wedding, too. The days when the bride was in charge of everything are over. And by assigning your fiancee tasks he won’t mind doing, maybe you won’t have to twist his arm.
When things start getting too hectic, set aside some time for yourself when you aren’t thinking about anything nuptial related. Soak in a warm, relaxing bath, go to a movie, or schedule an appointment to get a therapeutic massage, but disconnect yourself from the wedding plans for a while.
Don’t forget to make time for each other, too. Experts say that some couples get so consumed with all the wedding plans that they don’t do fun things together as often. Just because you are planning your wedding doesn’t mean that the two of you have to stop dating.
Wedding planners offer these additional tips to help couples chill out before that final walk down the matrimonial aisle:
• Take a few minutes each day to exercise and help your body relax. But don’t do anything either physically or mentally exerting an hour before going to bed. You need to get some restful zzz’s. Remember to eat healthy meals as well. You are going to need all the energy that good nutrition supplies.
• If things begin to seem too overpowering, find someone who will listen. You shouldn’t hesitate to talk to a friend or family member about your insecurities and fears.
• Learn to say no. Don’t feel pressured to take on more than you can handle. You are only one person, after all.
• Finally, prioritize, prioritize, and prioritize more. Concentrate only on those things that are really important. Don’t waste time and energy doing things that really don’t matter. This is a happy, exciting time. Make the most of it!
